Mixed Martial Arts is the fastest growing sport in the World. We are bringing Health and Wellness concepts as well as training and self defense to the Rim Country of Arizona. Our target audience ranges from 5 yr old children to competitive professional fighters. Mixed Martial Arts training increases cardiovascular health, helps develop unmatched athleticism and builds confidence in those involved. These qualities not only help you in the gym, but in everyday life. All of our equipment is new and cleaned daily after each class concludes.

We aim to involve as many men, women and youth in our outstanding physical fitness and training programs as possible. Our mission is to provide our members with top notch cardiovascular workouts while learning valuable defensive and offensive fighting techniques at the same time. The Triangle Academy offers everyone a complimentary class, so come and check us out!

Most of us compete regularly at a local and national level but that is not necessary to join. If you decide you would like to compete there are many tournaments available and we can help you get ready. If your interests are more into MMA we can help you get your ground game up and going. Most fighters today are specializing in a base martial art and if your looking to get into full contact or cage fighting you will benefit from ground work. Flagstaff Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy is affiliated with Wellington “Megaton” Dias in Phoenix. He is a Black Belt of the Gracie Humaita school under Royler Gracie and the president of the Arizona Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

Head Instructor Chuck Smith has been training for 2 1/2 years and is a Blue Belt under Megaton Dias of the Gracie Humaita school. In the past couple of years Chuck has competed at two State Championships (taking a bronze medal home from the most recent one), he also competed at the 2009 Pan am tournament, Grapplers Quest at the UFC Fan Expo in 2010 and Worlds 2010. He has also competed in two Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Classic events and two Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open events in Mesa, held by Gustavo Dantes. Chuck eats, sleeps, and breathes jiu jitsu and tries to hit any and every competition around!

Your first week of training is free of charge and after that if you decide you would like to stay we have a low monthly fee. Jiu-Jitsu practitioners always remember their first introduction to the art as an epiphany, a life-changing event. You’ll be amazed at how effective leverage can overcome size and strength and the ease at which an average person, with no prior martial arts training, can perform the techniques of Jiu-Jitsu. Even life-long students of other martial arts are blown away by the efficiency and effectiveness of “the gentle art.”

Unlike other martial arts, such as Karate, Tae Kwan Do and Kung Fu, Jiu-Jitsu doesn’t depend on using punches and kicks to defeat an attacker. Instead, Jiu-Jitsu practitioners utilize chokes and joint locks (“submissions”) to subdue their opponents. By relying on leverage instead of strength or athleticism — requisite qualities for being successful at punching and kicking — the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu artist is able to defeat much larger and stronger opponents. 95% of all real fights end up on the ground, the place where a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner is most deadly and the place where weight and strength advantages are most easily overcome.

The Jay Pages Jiu-Jitsu program follows a curriculum designed to give the student a complete strategy for handling any martial situation, ranging from a self-defense confrontation to a grappling tournament match. Our curriculum ensures that each student receives a complete game-plan that includes basic striking, working from a clinch, takedowns, throws, ground grappling and self-defense.

If you have called other schools you have certainly found that your monthly tuition grants you access to only a select number of classes per month/week. At Orion Boxing / MMA your monthly tuition allows you to participate in any and all classes for your age level. We feel that in order to truly increase skill level and improve and grow students need virtually unlimited access to training- we are not a “once a week” school; we are a full-time training facility.

Any tuition rates offered at the “Pre-Grand Opening” rate will be grandfathered during the entire time you are at Orion Boxing / MMA. In other words if you sign up now you will keep the special rate even when the rates increase after we open and grow. As always, your tuition not only grants you access to classes but also grants you unlimited access to weight training facilities once the build-out is complete.

Orion Boxing/MMA produces Amateur and Professional level fighters in Boxing, Muay Thai, Kick Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and MMA. Our fighters participate regularly in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Club Free-style, and Submission Wrestling competition both locally and regionally.
