If you have joined the Xtreme MMA to learn how to fight, you won’t have any trouble. We offer classes all week focusing on different aspects of the sport of MMA and fighting:  Boxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, Grappling, Judo. If contact is your concern, only students who wish to spar will do so.

Unlike any other type of student at the Xtreme MMA, those wishing to join the fight team will be required to pass an evaluation by our team of qualified instructors. This evaluation will also include some full contact sparring with our other fight team members. If you have the drive and desire to enter the cage and fight, you have come to the right place.

The second main focus for us is physical fitness. That is why Define Defense uses all the latest cutting edge equipment in the classes so our clients enjoy a great workout every time they come. We never do the same warmup twice and teach you how to perform exercises correctly. Since our instructors are certified trainers, you are guaranteed not only to get a great workout but also learn more about the reasons behind the training. That is why Define Defense is the place where martial arts and personal training meet!

Our clients enjoy a blend of fight/self defense instruction and physical training. Define Defense has a fully equipped 2,400 square feet gym which includes over 1,000 square feet of martial arts mats and cutting edge gym equipment. Pacific Warrior MMA/Roughhouse Pueblo is a Colorado Fight League certified gym.

Mile High Gracie jiu jitsu trains in real Gracie jiu jitsu. Jiu jitsu is a self-defensive art for everyone not just for MMA fighters. Everyone participates in live training; there is no required amount of beginning “classes”. Live training is what sets Gracie Jiu jitsu apart from other martial arts. There will never be a situation where someone strength will surprise you. In our regular class there is no striking, speed or takedowns, nothing to be intimidated of. No one at Mile high has attitude or ego. Although we recommend Gi training, any technique can easily be applied to no Gi. Jiu Jitsu requires no effort in its purest form, and is excellent for core muscles, cardio and mental health.

The academy’s curriculum is divided into monthly units. The beginning of the month is a breakdown of the position, and good habits. Progressing to more advanced concepts, eventually building to a submission towards the end of the month. The month long focus gives our students a lot of different approaches to a position. A lot of repetition makes sure you will not forget a move or position and allows you time to work it into your game.

Everyone should be able to practice jiu jitsu in a fun and relaxed family friendly environment.

Rob Eickhoff is Head Instructor of ZBJJ Grand Junction, and is a BJJ Purple Belt, CrossFit Level I Coach and American Kettlebell Club Certified. Rob began is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training in 2004 under black belt Don Richard and Professor Carlos “Caique” Elias. Rob continued to train with Don and Team Caique until the spring of 2007 when he moved to Grand Junction where he now teaches.

In early 2008, while competing at a tournament in Denver, Rob was fortunate enough to meet Professor Mauricio Zingano, who owns and operates one of the top BJJ schools in Colorado. Professor Zingano was kind enough to invite Rob to be a part of his instructor’s program. This has given Rob the opportunity to not only improve his game but give him the necessary skills too pass his knowledge on.

While walking into a martial arts school for the first time can be intimidating for many, we assure you that you’ll be pleasantly surprised on how easy it is to get started. No bad attitudes, egos or “hard sale” tactics involved! Regardless of what your goals are; self defense, getting in shape, losing weight or just being involved in new sport and being part of a tight community, you have found the place you’ve been looking for.
