The Atlanta Martial Arts Center is a multi-martial art center designed to offer the best that the martial arts/self defense world has to offer. Training is available in Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do, Personal Defensive Systems, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Filipino Kali/Escrima, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Combat Submission Wrestling, Shaolin Kung Fu, Shaolin Kempo and Qi-Gong.

Our Kid’s Programs are especially designed to teach life skills using the martial arts. Our goal is to help them build strong character and strong bodies in order prepare them for life’s challenges. To better organize the classes to meet the needs of the kids we also separate our classes into two age groups: 4 to 6 years old and 7 to 12. AMAC also has specialized programs offering certification in Qi Gong, Holistic Nutrition, Energy stretching as well a programs designed specifically for security, law enforcement, S.W.A.T., and military personnel.

Sifu Alan Baker is a internationally recognized martial arts expert. He has been training continually in the Martial Arts since 1981 and teaching since 1990. In 1999, Alan was inducted into the WHFSC International Martial Arts Hall of Fame; in August 2007, he was awarded the rank of 7th Degree Black Belt by the International Martial Arts Headfounders Grandmasters Council. Mr. Baker is an Official member of the Prestigious International KFM Top Team and a assistant ambassador to the United States.

In the course of his career he has attained the level of black belt or higher in Thirteen disciplines of martial arts as well as multiple instructor level certifications in additional systems under some of the industry’s most renowned leaders such as Dan Inosanto, Pedro Sauer, Francis Fong, Erik Paulson, Greg Nelson, Leo T. Gaje, Jr, Justo Dieguez Serrano, Andy Norman, James Cravens and Paul Vunak. He is one of only a few people in the world to hold Black Belts in such a diverse selection of martial arts.

The boxing fitness training that is such a crucial part of Muay Thai is a fantastic workout but when you combine it with Muay Thai Kicks, which involve the whole body to produce a good Muay Thai kick, then the workout takes on an entirely new proportion. The skills you learn in Muay Thai are unlike any other martial art. You will learn excellent boxing skills as well as great balance and the ability to produce incredible power through correct technique. Young and old, in shape and not so in shape, it doesn’t matter, everyone that tries it once comes back for more. The rewards are great, the sport is challenging and fun and you can see yourself advancing quickly and effectively.

MMA is a combination of various fighting techniques, the trainers here will teach you the various disciplines. These may include kick boxing, boxing, judo, karate, jujitsu and wrestling. The class will start with the basics of MMA, including proper and effective punching and kicking, the clinch and takedowns. We will build on all of these techniques, advancing into attacking and defending from the ground and from stand-up. These classes will include sparring as students demonstrate proficiency. Students will develop strength, stamina, and effective use of the body in self-defense situations and the opportunity to gauge one’s total-body fitness and strength while increasing them.

Since starting Kempo and Jiu-Jitsu training in 1993, Instructor Glenn Hamby has had the privilege of being trained by masters such as Bobby Wilson of Augusta, Ken Hudson of Americus, and Jacare Calvalcanti of Atlanta. Influences during that time include Rickson Gracie and Royce Gracie, who awarded him his blue belt. Glenn has continued his Jiu-Jitsu training since then under Gustavo ‘Guga’ Machado, and then Marcio Feitosa, whom gave Glenn his purple and brown belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Glenn is proud to be affiliated with Marcio, Master Carlos Gracie Jr., and the entire Gracie Barra Organization.
