Empty Hand Combat teaches a variety of martial arts to suit the modern lifestyle. We teach traditional Kung Fu, Muay Thai Kick boxing, Chin Nah (ultimate submission through pressure points and joint manipulation tactics), Weapons including knife, swords sticks and staff, traditional Kung -Fu, sword forms and Tai-Chi chuan, Muay Thai kick boxing, and practical self-defense.

If you are tired of watered down Martial Arts, where years of training has not impacted your combat capability and especially when you needed it the most, then Empty Hand Combat is the place for you.

Our facility is one of the biggest Dojos in the entire Treasure Valley with over 7000 sq. ft. including a full kick boxing ring, weight training areas, and various training stations. One of the Grandmaster (Shihan Dean), who visited us recently describe it as a dream center for the hard core Martial Artist.

At A Warriors Way Martial Arts Academy you will be required to become proficient in not only the art of Sport Tae Kwon Do but self defense techniques ranging from standing up to working from the ground. Learning about awareness is an important aspect of self defense and we cover it in detail. Our self defense curriculum is about doing everything possible to not be put in a place where you will have to defend yourself…and in the unfortunate circumstance you do have to defend yourself, to put the hurt on anyone silly enough to try something foolish. Remember running away if possible is the best option. Offensive techniques are limited to the older students. The younger students primarily learn conflict resolution techniques.

The MMA Warriors program is a introduction to the exciting sport of Mixed Martial Arts teaching on a rotating curriculum the elements and techniques of Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Take Downs, Submissions and Countering, Warm Ups/Core Training and Conditioning. This is the fastest growing sport in the world with the most conditioned and fit athletes of any sport. Being a beginning program it is a great place to start. There is some sparring but it is not required. We want this to be an introduction to the great possibility’s of gaining confidence, agility and awesome conditioning. Some students use this class as just that – a conditioning class, some of us are not into the competition of the sport we just want to become fit and proficient in the sport of MMA.

We also offer private and semi-private lessons if you want a bit more one-on-one instruction. This seems very popular for the adult crowd that is not interested in competing and is in it for the benefits of conditioning and even better stress relief….as I have said many times there is little that relieves stress more that beating the crap out of a punching bag.

Our classes are Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 pm. If you have a preference for a different time let us know. We are looking to open up other class times and as soon as we get some interest in a time we will open it up.

These classes you can look forward to learning Kickboxing, Muay Thai and of course, Grappling. We work primarily on the stand up and conditioning portions of MMA and offer a highly comprehensive class from Boise Jiu-Jitsu in our school. If you want to take your skills to the octagon or just get fit these are great classes for you.

Craig Kukuk is the first American Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After receiving his black belt from the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Rio De Janiero in 1991, he taught at the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Los Angeles and opened his own academies in New York City, Philadelphia, Long Island and New Jersey. Although Craig is recognized as the first American Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, his roots started in wrestling and boxing in the Los Angeles in the 70’s and 80’s.

We teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Grappling, and Mixed Mixed Martial Arts classes. We also teach a Kid’s BJJ class that is both self-defense and sport oriented. In the near future we are planning to include classes in Judo and Muay Thai. We are passionate about these particular forms of Mixed Martial Arts, and have extensive experience coupled with a long competition record in each of these arts. We are an affiliate of the Grapplers Guild and MMA Institute.

We also offer training in XMA (Xtreme Martial Arts) which is one of the most exciting, high energy martial art programs you will find. We have Muay Thai Fitness, which will give you an intense cardio workout through a fun and challenging bag class. Last but not least we have Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu available to those students that wish to learn the best ground fighting and defensive techniques available today. Free introductory classes are available for students who want to learn more.

Dragon Bushido Dojo is now located inside of Treasure Valley Fitness, along with THROWDOWN Idaho to offer even more classes and a full health club for everyone.
