The goal of Lights Out Boxing, MMA, and Fitness Gym is to help our members to develop, grow and improve both physically and mentally through progression in boxing, kickboxing, mixed martial arts and fitness training. We seek to accomplish this by offering the most innovative and enjoyable boxing, mixed martial arts and fitness instruction available. Our aim is to encourage individuals and families to lead healthier lifestyles and to assist them in reaching their fitness related goals. We strive to touch the lives of as many individuals as possible with the positive benefits of boxing, mixed martial arts and fitness. Our goal is to maintain a state-of-the-art training facility that offers the gym members a safe relaxed atmoshere along with a diverse range of self-defense and fitness programs that are supervised by a certified trained staff.

Head Instructor Greg Bartman is a certified Gracie Jiu-Jitsu coach. He has trained directly under the Gracie family, and has received promotions from both Relson and Royce Gracie. Greg began training Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in 1994 and started leading lessons in 1995.

Maryland CSW was founded in 2004 by Khuen Khru Alvin Chan. He is an established fitness leader, Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (C.S.C.S.), and holds a bachelors degree in Kinesiological Science from the University of Maryland. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps and has over 20 years of martial arts experience. He was a former competitors and an alternate member of the 2002 WKA US Thai Boxing Team and Bronze medalist in the US Thai Boxing Championship. Khuen Khru Alvin prides himself on successfully fostering a safe and effective training environment.

All classes are taught in a friendly and family atmosphere. Safety is always a concern in any class. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves in every class. No student will ever be required to do anything that they feel is too much for them. Part of our training is learning our strengths and limitations and using them both to most benefit us in our lives.

The key to getting good at any skill is to have consistent training. Martial Arts are no different. The hardest part of martial arts training is to consistantly come to class day in and day out. This is the reason that Maryland Thai Boxing only accepts a few new students each month. We want to spend most of our time training and motivating the dedicated Martial Artists we have enrolled in our programs. Not that we don’t welcome new students, we just want to make sure we are giving the highest quality training you can get anywhere.

Team Maryland BJJ provides a safe and clean environment for our Jiu-Jitsu students to train. Our 5,500 square feet facility, conveniently located near the heart of Towson, provides practical and effective Jiu-Jitsu and Judo training to the local Towson and Baltimore community.

Team Maryland Gracie Jiu-Jitsu’s well qualified staff has over 60+ years of Martial Arts experience, and are suited to teach all ages and experience levels. Our programs include Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and Judo classes for: children (ages 3-5), youth (ages 6-11), teens (ages 12-15), and adults.

In keeping with the traditions of BJJ the academy focuses on the students as a whole not just a few standout fighters. Building team unity, hardwork and, discipline MD BJJ is fast becoming the place to train in Anne Arundel county and the outlying Maryland area.

Maryland Brazilian Jiu Jitsu opened in June 2007. Co owners Duke Koblinsky (black belt) and Monroe Hall (brown belt) are both accredited Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instructors. In January 2009, Maryland BJJ relocated to our new location on Mountain Road in Pasadena, Maryland.

Head Instructor Monroe Hall has been a competitive Jiu-Jitsu player for eight years, and has been teaching for three. His quiet and pleasing demeanor is his strongest asset. People will understand what martial artists are all about when you meet this”quiet warrior”. He welcomes all levels of students and prides himself on the “tough” cases. His patience, knowledge, and genuine love for his artform is infectious.

Duke Koblinsky is a black belt competitor and teacher of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. In addition to his competitive titles and mixed martial arts fights, duke is a consummate professional at his approach to teaching BJJ. He applies his methodical and technical philosophy to any and all students that are willing to learn. His friendly demeanor and charismatic attitude are contagious as he spreads his passion and love for the martial art that he says, “will change the world”. Duke’s focus is the overall enrichment of each student he encounters with the positive energy that surrounds him and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Cage fitness is a complete fitness system that is based on the structure of a championship MMA bout. What this means is that Cage Fitness will give you a total body workout over 5 – 5 minute rounds. The key elements that Cage Fitness focuses on are endurance, strength, power, and core. This is accomplished through our 5 round fitness system. The rounds are broken up into the following categories: Warm Up, Upper Body, Lower Body, Combo Round, Cool Down/Core.

Brothers Shihan Butch Veader and Sensei Mike Veader started martial arts training in 1960, under Shihan Siguards Orgrins, President of New England Jujitsu, Judo Associations (N.E.J.J.A.). Also founder and owner of Seigneury Jujitsu/Judo School in Boston, Massachusetts. Shihan Butch and Sensei Mike moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1987 and opened Seigneury Jujitsu/Judo School on Belair Road.

At the Foundry, every class is taught by a BJJ Black Belt and our curriculum is designed to help new students practice, improve, and master the many intriquite bjj techniques, concepts, and skills. All students are treated like family. The goal is to make yourself AND your partner better at Jiu Jitsu. Ego on the mat is never tolerated. The Foundry offers small group classes and each student receives plenty of individual attention. The Foundry often brings in World class bjj and MMA competitors keeping the energy new and providing cutting edge instruction for the Jiu Jitsu enthusiast.

Noelie Danforth is the head instructor at Foundry DC, who holds a Black Belt in both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Judo. Noel began his training in Amateur Boxing as a young boy before moving to Karate and then to Judo. Noel had the opportunity to train under a number of excellent Judo instructors such as Ray Dion, Cal Potter, Mike Nees and Noriyasu Kudo. Noel began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2001 and met Jose Carlos Moreira (4x Brazilian National Champion and veteran of UFC 8 & 14) shortly after, eventually receiving his BJJ Black Belt in March 2010.

Noel has trained and competed all over the country and in Brazil and has won or medalled in many competitions. He has medalled numerous times at the Pan American Jiu Jitsu Championships in both Gi and No-Gi. At the age of 38, Noel entered the Mundial 2008 (World Championships of BJJ), losing on points to the eventual World silver medallist, almost submitting his opponent in the final seconds. Noel is known for his articulate and thorough teaching style and believes that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is for anyone, regardless of age, gender, size or level of athleticism.

Our students come from all walks of life and our affiliated instructors have various competitive backgrounds such as wrestling, boxing, judo and MMA. Both, our students and our instructors, compete on the local, national, and world levels of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We have produced champions at all levels of the sport of BJJ and in MMA events.

Ocean City Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is located on the backside of the Decatur Business Center off of MD Route 611 in Ocean City.
