We are home of Tim Edmonds T-N-T Boxing team, the winners of the Toughman Lightweight and Middleweight Divisions. Our school offers a diversity of mixed martial arts that includes Gracie Jiu Jitsu, American boxing, and Muay Thai kickboxing. We also offer an excellent Kids Program where kids can learn to defend themselves in a variety of martial arts in a safe and fun environment.

Instructor Paul Joyner served in the United States Marine Corps. While in Okinawa Japan, he trained in Okinawain Karate. He then trained in Chinese Kempo under Chief Vierra, as well as Muay Thai, while in Hawaii. He started training in Gracie Jiu Jitsu in 1994, under Relson Gracie. Paul is a two-time Hawaii State Jiu Jitsu Champion, and he’s earned two silver medals in the Pan-Am Games for Relson Gracie’s Competition Jiu Jitsu team. He has a black belt in Namido Yudanshakai Jiu Jitsu, and a brown belt in Relson Gracie Jiu Jitsu from Relson Gracie.

It is the goal of Staples Team Xtreme to promote a positive image for our sport. There are no better conditioned or trained athletes in any competitive sport today. The Mixed Martial Artist and Kickboxer is an elite athlete and warrior like no other!

Being at the top levels of our sport, we will conduct ourselves in a manner fitting a Champion. A TRUE Champion is noble, fair, honest, dignified, and humble in victory or defeat. True Champions can focus their passions.

All Fighters, friends and family of fighters, Sponsors, and Team Xtreme staff will behave in the highest degree of positive sportsmanship. Anyone exhibiting obscenity, profanity, lewd behavior, or unsportsmanlike conduct or interfering with the positive atmosphere of any event will be asked to leave and never attend any event related to our fighters.

While we currently DO NOT have a certified Black Belt BJJ instructor, and our instructors are currently working on BJJ certification, there is no extra charge for our regular adult students and parents to take BJJ classes other than WBJJA rank testing fees. We are an affiliated school and our students have the ability to obtain official BJJ rank through the World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association sanctioned rank testings.

Master Instructor Chris Holmes has been training continuously for over 14 years. Unlike many instructors that earn their black belts then earn rank due to time, Mr. Holmes has put in mat time consistently since earning his black belt 10 years ago. Mr. Holmes has earned a 4th Degree Black belt in Hapkido, a 3rd Degree Black belt in Han Mu Do, a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do, a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, in addition he has trained in Chen Style Taiji, Teuk Gong Moo Sool, Kuk Sool, and is currently training in Judo. He is the only instructor in the area with a masters degree in education, and is planning on entering the tournament circuit again, and looking to earn his purple belt as well.

Mr. Holmes considers the following people his teachers: Hapkido- Master Steve Kincade and Master Steve Seo; Han Mu Do- Dr. He Young Kimm, Master Mike Reed, and Master Frank Caracci; Tang Soo Do- Master John Magee and Mr. Michael Langhart; Brazilian Jiu Jitsu-Master Carlos Machado; Kuk Sool-Master Steve Kincade and Master Steve Seo; Chen Taiji-Ron Burr; and Judo-Vincent Fernando and Dr. He Young Kimm.

Sunbinim Christine Hightowerhas been training consistently for 6 years now. She started several months after her son William became a student and eventually Mr. Holmes asked her to start assisting with classes. She has been a loyal and dedicated student ever since. She has earned a 2nd Degree Black belt in Hapkido and a 1st Degree Black belt in Han Mu Do. Ms. Christine’s primary Hapkido and Han Mu Do instructor is Mr. Holmes. Ms. Christine’s Jiu-Jitsu instructors are Master Carlos Machado and Mr. Holmes.

If you are looking for something more, if you feel like something is missing then come try us out. We do a lot more than kicking and punching; our students learn to become leaders, learn realistic self defense, are required to take initiative and do public service projects in order to earn their belts. We do not offer quick fixes, or make false claims promising effortless results…. You will sweat, you will work, you will have fun, and learn top notch martial arts skills in a supportive and friendly enviroment. Beware of instructors that promise easy and quick fixes.

Our Adult classes include training in Gi and No-gi grappling Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. We also have Stand-up/MMA Classes and Cage Cardio Blast Classes in our Gulf Shores/Foley gym. Class includes an extensive warm up with a conditioning regimen that increase flexibility, strength and cardiovascular fitness in a way unique to improving defense techniques. For interested students, there is a belt-promotion system based on time in training and demonstration of advancement in skills following the traditional martial arts. Learning is in a structured technical fashion and is followed by sessions where students work on technique in an open-mat style session in a friendly non-combative manner.

The Academy kids program offers a disciplined yet enjoyable environment for children to learn the martial arts. They have a combination of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Stand-up/ MMA. Children are able to advance through a belt system program as they learn various components of traditional martial arts integrated in a family friendly setting. Parents are able to observe first hand the development process and are encouraged to attend the adult sessions too and join the fun!

We offer complete male and female fitness programs for kids, teens, and adults that develop greater discipline, concentration, self-confidence, and self-respect.
