Gracie Jiu-Jitsu begins with one basic premise: technique trumps all. While we can’t change our height, reverse our age, or all become big and strong, we all can develop technique.

Gracie Jiu-Jitsu philosophy assumes our opponent will be bigger, stronger, and faster. Instead of strength we rely on body mechanics and leverage to manipulate resisting opponents, so even relatively smaller and weaker practitioners can defend themselves against bigger and stronger adversaries.

Head Instructor Don Kaecher has been teaching Mixed Martial Arts since 1997 and started Personal Training Tactics, Pittsburgh’s premier MMA School. Don has trained with and is a certified instructor under Erik Paulson of CSW (Combat Submission Wrestling) in Los Angeles, California. Erik Paulson was the first American to win the World Shooto Light-Heavyweight Title in Japan, defending his title 5 years straight. Don also trained with legendary instructor Guru Dan Inosanto.

With Mixed Martial Arts rapidly evolving, Don continues to stay on top of the sport by expanding his expert knowledge with the help of boxing coaches, wrestling coaches, books, training videos, seminars and thru his many students. At Wrecking Crew Jiu Jitsu in New Castle, Pennsylvania, we practice the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We are an Erik Paulson Combat Submission Wrestling affiliate school. This martial art teaches how to fight effectively on the ground. Since most situations end on the ground, it is best to know how to handle yourself there. On the ground, you will learn how to apply various finishing submissions, and effectively strike and defend against strikes. Also, the vast array of throws, takedowns, and defenses from throws and takedowns, make controlling the situation on your feet effective.

Mike Demko is the chief instructor at the dojo, and has martial art experience in judo, aikido, and vale tudo. Mike also has valuable wrestling experience and is the junior high school wrestling coach of Laurel School District.
