Co-Owner/Head Coach Dean Lavin first came into the fight scene in 2003 when he fought in Chael Sonnen’s FCFF. After 2 years in mma, he got into kickboxing which led him to become the 2005 IKF national champion. In 2009 he stepped back into the cage and was on a 4 fight win streak when he made the decision to turn his mma career into pro. He made his pro mma debut April 30th, 2011 in Shogun fights. He is continuing his fight journey as well as training his fight team.

Not only does Dean have a passion in fighting, but training as well. It has been a long time dream of his to open his own gym and train people in what he loves. He takes a personal/hands on approach to training and treats each of his members as family. One of his main goals in life is to help his students succeed, whatever their goal may be.

At W2WMA, Judo and BJJ are sister arts, both derived from the same father and we train them together in one program, leveraging each other’s strengths. You don’t have to choose one over another; here you can train both belts in one program! Judo without BJJ is like punching with only your left hand, BJJ without Judo is like punching with only your right hand. We teach you how to use both hands!

Ben Eaton began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1997 and became a Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu Association instructor in 2005 through a friendship that was fostered with Saulo and Xande Ribeiro since 2000. Ben was the owner/ head instructor of Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu Association-South Bend and was the only Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu affiliate operating in Indiana before relocating to Virginia in September 2010.

Unlike fighting for sport, where both competitors try to achieve victory by knockout, submission, or by points, the primary goal of defensive tactics is self preservation. Let’s face it, most of us aren’t trying to be the next UFC world champ – more than likely, you’ll be accosted on your way to the store or the mailbox, or while walking your dog; there may be more than one assailant, or maybe an edged or impact weapn is involved. You just want to learn a realistic way to survive. What we will teach you, just as we have taught elite security, law enforcement, and military personnel, (as well as girl scouts, and other community groups) is to evade, intercept, then terminate your adversary. We do not teach how to brawl; we teach how to cheat, and to survive an attack with surgical precision.

What we do isn’t necessarily pretty or flashy, in fact sometimes it down right nasty, but when you are trying to survive, who cares? We teach what’s illegal in the UFC, Affliction, and other MMA sports – this is truly filthy MMA!

We are primarily a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school with students who successfully compete in BJJ competitions. Our adult club has people ranging from ages 16 all the way up to age 50 plus. Our kids’ classes range from age 5 to 15. Our school provides a low stress environment that puts an importance on technique and improvement.

Dimitri Chrisos is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu brown belt under black belt Demetrius Ramos (Tucson Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) and a member of the BJJ Revolution Team (Carlson Gracie lineage). He has studied Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since 2001 and has taught since 2007. He is a US Air Force Veteran.

Our facility has comfortable lobby areas with televisions, free wireless internet, and men’s and women’s locker rooms with showers. LINXX features Fairtex and Swain brand training equipment, including focus mitts, Thai pads, belly pads, heavy bags, boxing rings, and matted grappling and striking areas. Our LINXX programs is comprised of Thai Boxing, Capoeira and Jiu-Jitsu.

Our staff consists of a team of professional martial artists dedicated to quality and student service. Many of our instructors hold titles and awards from national and international competitions. The LINXX Academy competition team has a long and celebrated history competing on the local, regional, national, and international levels. Since 1992, Team-LINXX has produced dozens of champions over the years such as World Champion Muay Thai fighter Shawn Yarborough, World Extreme Cage fighting (WEC) champion Jeff “Big Frog” Curran, and Hawaiian Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Superstar Brandon Wolff. Competition training is very different from regular instructional classes and we expect serious commitment from our team members. Training often occurs six days a week and consists of arduous conditioning routines and full-contact sparring. Often, new members are kept in a “support” role for a period of time to prove their dedication and worthiness.
