Checkmat Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Leo Vieira Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Upland, California, is one of two schools of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion Leo Vieira, offering instruction in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for both adults and children. We are a team dedicated to educating and developing people through and in the martial arts. Whether you are taking instruction for self protection, health, fitness, competitive fighting, or just the overall enjoyment of the arts, we want to make your experience enjoyable and satisfying.
Our Instructors are the best. They have studied and trained for years to qualify as part of the Leo Vieira Jiu Jitsu team. Their primary goal is to transfer those years of experience to you the student, in order for you to be the best you can. If your goals are not met neither are theirs.
Classes offered at the school include; MMA, Wrestling (Greco roman, Freestyle & Folkstyle), submission grappling, and kickboxing and Pentjak Silat. All classes will have a designated conditioning class assigned to it. And of course Traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with gi or no-gi classes for your convenience.
Our carefully structured programs go far beyond punching, kicking, blocking, and grappling. We will assist you in acquiring effective self protection skills and provide you with a comprehensive, personal development program. We would like to be responsible for raising the quality of life for all our students in every way possible.
Although we honor martial art traditions that go back centuries, we are dynamic in that we are constantly seeking new, innovative training methods and programs to motivate our students and keep them excited.
We pledge to make each students journey as fun, exciting, and educating as possible. We monitor progress closely and walk with students every step of the way. We believe that training in the martial arts is not just learning how to apply physical skills but also how to apply mental skills as well.
Our facility and training programs have something for everyone. Just remember, you don’t have to be a competitive fighter in order to feel like a champion.
