At L.A. Sands Boxing, we strive to build a solid boxing club where anyone of any age, nationality, or affiliation could get a superb work out, hone their boxing skills, and develop their character through a disciplined effort. We strive to provide a no-frills old school boxing climate, where boxing can be enjoyed, practiced, and its history can be learned. We also place an emphasis on fitness, diet, and exercise technique. When you think of our gym, you think about Mike Tyson, coming into the ring at the peak of his power, with only a towel draped over his shoulders and wearing boxing shoes with no socks on. The true greats of the sport honed their skills without the appendages of technology. Accordingly, we believe in bringing it back to the basics. We are not plugged in at our gym because we believe in hands on personal interaction as a key to ones growth and ultimate success in the sport of boxing.
Originally founded in the winter of 2007 as the L.A. Kronk Boxing Club, the gym was inspired by world class boxing coach and expert commentator Emanuel Steward. Inspired by the belief in the need for more coaches in the sport of boxing and an emphasis on stressing the fundamentals of boxing, we decided to open The Bludgeon also known as the L.A. Sands Boxing Club in Downtown Los Angeles. We chose Downtown L.A. not only because it is centrally located, but because of its current mystique as the come back center of L.A. We wanted to be close to LA Live and the Staples Center because we love Los Angeles and the great State of California and view its boxing climate as having the finest future potential for growth in the United States. We are also registered as USA Boxing officials. As such, we have established The Bludgeon as an official USA Boxing registration site.
