Evergreen Martial Arts Academy

Evergreen Martial Arts Academy was originally established in Kittredge as the Mountain Academy of Martial Arts in 1981 by Master John Rankin. Mountain Academy of Martial Arts, or MAMA for short was exclusively dedicated to Master Rankin’s primary martial art, Tang Soo Do Tae Kwon Do. MAMA moved to the Evergreen North Center (near the Evergreen post office) in 1988.

In 1996, Master Rankin established another Tang Soo Do Tae Kwon Do school in Lakewood and one of his students, Master Bruce Bishop took over the operation of MAMA in Evergreen. Master Bishop moved MAMA to its current premises at 28677 Buffalo Park Road in 2000.

In July 2006, one of Master Bishop’s students, Matt Emmons took over operation of MAMA and as part of the resulting reorganization, the school was renamed Evergreen Martial Arts Academy. Although the Tang Soo Do program remains Evergreen Martial Arts Academy’s primary activity, Judo, Aikido, Tai Chi Chuan, Jiu Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), and Kung Fu programs have been established and are growing steadily. We are fortunate enough to have attracted some of the area’s finest martial arts instructors.

Evergreen Martial Arts Academy is an IRS 501(c)(3) Non-profit corporation, which means that you can be assured that your tuition fees are only used to cover operational costs. All of our instructors are dedicated to promoting martial arts at the highest levels and none of them are ‘in it for the money’.
