I’m writing this from the viewpoint of a non-MMA fighter, and one who’s pretty new to it all—just always wanted to get into Muay Thai without all the other MMA stuff that’s gotten pretty big in all of the other gyms I looked into joining. Oscar is a fantastic trainer and mentor….he actually takes time to see how each person learns best and works with them in that way. Nothing is “cookie-cutter” or pushed on everyone the same way—he (and Carl!) works with each person the way that works for THEM the best. The guys/girls training at the gym are all fantastic—there’s never a feeling that you’re not good enough to be there or anything like that. Everyone there is encouraging and super friendly. This place is awesome…real Muay Thai–not someone’s bastardized “idea” of Muay Thai….Oscar really tries (and succeeds) to keep the authentic styles and techniques and adds some things that he’s learned from being in the ring himself. It’s not just “go kick that bag”…..it’s more about how to kick it and what your body is doing when you throw the kick (among MANY other things). I would recommend this gym to anyone—even if you just need to get up off the couch and do something different! You get 2 free classes…check ‘em out!
