  1. Jordan says:

Heads up to interested individuals: Team Beast is the BJJ/MMA school run by Matt Barvo, who has made repeated, fraudulent claims as to having a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has claimed at different times to have been trained and promoted by Rigan Machado, Claudio Franca, Tom Cicero, Leo Vieira and other actual BJJ practicioners. None of these references has checked out upon investigation, however (it is the modern age, after all, and easy to call people in Brazil to verify lineage!). Matt Barvo has also made false claims as to being sponsored by MMA clothing and gear companies, and falsified his record as a mixed martial artist.

Individuals and families interested in training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or Mixed Martial Arts have several legitimate options in the Treasure Valley, do your research and verify the credentials of your instructors before giving them your hard earned money!
