The Military Arts Institute (MAI) in Chicago, Illinois, was founded in 1963 by Grandmaster Kyung Sun Shin, a world-renowned martial arts instructor & former competitor. Grandmaster Shin has produced thousands of highly skilled black belts. Schools affiliated with MAI can be found all over the United States, as many of Grandmaster Shin’s advanced black belts have opened first-class training facilities. We offer instruction in Judo, Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and Ju-Jit-Su.
The MAI has one of the largest training areas in Chicago, offering more than 4,000 square feet of high-quality padded mats. MAI is also well-equipped with all types of training tools such as punching & kicking bags, sparring gear, and bounce-back dummies. We also have a wide range of gym equipment for use to complement martial arts classes with weight training.
