Baltimore Martial Arts Academy Judo & Mixed Martial Arts Center in Catonsville, Maryland (Formerly the Baltimore Judo Club), was founded by owner and Instructor Gary Berger in November of 1994. In the beginning, Mr. Berger’s Dojo resided inside the Baltimore Judo Club: Mr. Berger taught all of his classes himself including Adult Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Arnis, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu & Junior Karate. As time went on, Mr. Berger met with other professional martial artists each with unique talents in their respective fields. Through Mr. Berger’s request, many of these instructors came aboard to become full time and part time instructors at the academy. Currently the Baltimore Martial Arts Academy has 10 programs, 17 primary instructors, and 7 assistant instructors. To date, we know of no other school that offers as many different programs or has a comparable multitude of staff.
At BMAA we offer professional instruction in the martial arts in a relaxed, safe, and fun atmosphere. While we do observe tradition and treat each individual with the utmost respect, we are not drill instructors. Our adult classes are based around teaching and personal growth, both physically and mentally. Our diligent work ethic leaves no room for inflated egos or criticism of others.
The Baltimore Martial Arts Academy offers a schedule to fit everyone’s busy lifestyle. We offer classes for children and adults six days a week, with classes in the day and evening.
