Bowie Mixed Martial Arts, located at A Plus Academy in Bowie, Maryland offers instruction in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo (Kodokan and Kosen). Led by BJJ Blackbelt Carlos Catania and NAGA Champion, we are a Team Sergio Penha affiliate. The mission of Bowie Mixed Martial Arts Academy is to promote the sport in a non-violent fashion. Focusing on self-defense while also providing the opportunity for the trainees to experience what body to body contact is all about. Our style is defined by the creation of a relaxed atmosphere where practicing the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. People of all genders are welcome!

Bowie MMA under Carlos Catania is an amazing place to train. I have a background as an 0351 Marine Combat Assaultman and have sparred Tae Kwon Do. Now, I train here with my 10 year old son and I am more impressed than I could have imagined. My son sweats with the big guys… they call him “little man” and I couldn’t have asked for a more encouraging place to train. My wife even says he acts differently towards her in public in a very good way. This is the best thing that’s happened to us in a long time.
I have ran into some of these guys at local mma and jui-jitsu events. They are very respectful and seem to be trained well. If I lived in Bowie, I would definitely check this place out.
I have had the honor of rolling with Carlos in this school and the students are blessed to have such a talented teacher.
My 10yo and I are taking our first Basic BJJ class tonight at this place. I hope the reviews are right. We have no real experience. Looking for a great workout, to teach him respect and learn self-defense.
