At Maxum Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Ronkonkoma, New York, come and learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Instructors Joe Monahan and Alex Aristides, both who have trained under the Serra Brothers, Matt and Nick. We currently offer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for adults and children, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and FIGHT TO FITNESS.
Joe Monahan, Maxum Brazilian Jiu Jitsu head instructor and founder, is a BJJ Black Belt currently under Matt and Nick Serra (Team Serra). As well as a 1st Grade Homicide Detective with the New York Police Department, Joe started out learning martial arts as a child. He has studying multiple styles over the years such as Japanese Jiu Jitsu, and kickboxing, before training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Joe has conducted many self defense, tactics and rape prevention cliniques for the NYPD. He has won multiple grappling tournaments in the United States. Joe still currently trains at the Serra Academy with Matt and Nick.
Alex Aristides, Maxum Brazilian Jiu Jitsu head instructor and founder, is a BJJ Brown Belt currently under Matt and Nick Serra (Team Serra). Alex started out learning martial arts as a teenager. Studying multiple styles over the years such as Japanese Jiu Jitsu, Judo and kickboxing before beginning his training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has won countless grappling tournaments and other matches over the years. Alex has competed around the United States and in Brazil, and like Joe, still currently trains at the Serra Academy as well.

Don’t know how this gym got a low rating it should be the highest rated in suffolk county. Amazing instructors, great atmosphere, very clean and great equipment, everyone is super friendly and helpful. Home to world class competitors, children, and moms and dads just looking to get in shape, I’ve trained at every gym in suffolk that matters and maxum is by far the best and it’s not even close!
