Beaufort Martial Arts Academy is Beaufort, South Carolina’s first and only Mixed Martial Arts Studio. We teach mixed martial arts (MMA), Muay Thai Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense to all age groups and experience levels. Our students range from 3 years old to 50 years old and above. And from brand new martial arts to seasoned competitors. Our classes are very affordable for the experience you will gain, but we will give you an Absolutely FREE Lesson to Try Our School. Beaufort MMA was founded in 1997 by Will McCullough. This fighting system, then called McCullough Submission Fighting, implemented realistic techniques from many different styles including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Boxing Muay Thai Kickboxing, Sombo and other styles. In 2003,

Will sold the school to Abe and Rebecca Stem, and John Manguno came on as a third partner after a few months. The school continued to teach more and more Beaufort based military and civilians and eventually came under sole ownership of Abe Stem when John and Rebecca were married and moved to Texas to progress their education.

Over the past 4 years, the gym has made many changes, but has kept the same realistic style and effective teaching methods. We are currently located in Shell Point and look forward to teaching you or your family members realistic self-defense.
