Zanshin Dojo

Zanshin Dojo opened as a karate school in 1992 and became the first school of Gracie “Brazilian” jiu-jitsu in middle Tennessee in 1994. We are a member of the U.S. Eastern Wado-Ryu, Japanese Wado-Ryu Renmei and Brazilian Wado-Ryu karate federations and the Rickson Gracie International Jiu-Jitsu Association. Many of our students have gone on to become world-class competitors and instructors. At Zanshin Dojo, we focus on the highest quality martial arts technique with applications for self-defense and tournament competition. Our classes include intensive conditioning and for those who are interested, Russian kettlebell training.

Eric Silver, head instructor of Zanshin Dojo started his martial arts training in 1971. He has trained in Wado-Ryu karate and jiu-jitsu in the U.S., Brazil, Japan and Europe. He is a sixth degree back-belt in Wado-Ryu karate and one of six Americans who have been awarded their black-belts by Rickson Gracie. In addition to his extensive training with the legendary Rickson, Mr. Silver has trained with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu luminaries, Royler Gracie, Fabio Gurgel, Marcelo Garcia and Saulo Ribeiro.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes at Zanshin Dojo are open to men, women and children. No previous experience is required and beginners can start at any time. Uniforms may be purchased through the school and visitors are always welcome.

Zanshin Dojo is located at Next Level Fitness, right near Baptist Hospital.

Professor Silver is the most technical Jiu Jitsu Instructor I have ever met. I train with him and his students at least three times a year. My Jiu Jitsu will always be sound as long as I have someone like him to seek advice from. He produces good Teachers as well. Hank, Derek, Corey, and Bob all share their knowledge in a thorough way.
