Welcome to Slava Boxing and Fitness, located in Houston’s Independence Heights, where you can train like a pro and lose weight while increasing your muscle tone and stamina. Get in the best shape of your life while learning the art of boxing. Training is conducted by Head Instructor Steve Kozakov, a second-level registered boxing coach with 15 years of experience training both amateur and professional boxers.

Slava Boxing was founded in 2007 by Steve Kozakov, formerly of Main Gym, and one of the first trainers to begin a “white collar boxing” program in the city of Houston, resulting in his being featured by the Houston Chronicle as well as Channel 13 News. Steve began operating at the same time as Gary Simon of Houston’s Heights Gym, who has now gone on to become a corner man for professional fighters as well as a referee for local events such as the annual Golden Gloves competitions.

While Steve maintains involvement in the training and development of amateur and professional boxers, he has continued his focus on “white collar” boxers over the last 15 years. Opening Slava Boxing has enabled Steve to concentrate on providing one-on-one guidance to those who to wish to train like a boxer without having to fight like one. Slava Boxing offers personal training with Steve, as well as group training and specialized individual boxing and kickboxing programs.

For those who do have the desire to participate in competitions, Slava Boxing is also home to the Bayou City Boxing Club, facilitated by Walt Haley, President of the USA Boxing Gulf Association. Walt has been training amateur and professional boxers for nearly 40 years. Bayou City Boxing Club includes members from all backgrounds and ages, from 7 years old to 50!
