Team Destiny Mixed Martial Arts, located in Whittier, California, offers the best in Muay Thai Kickboxing, Submission Wrestling, and Womens Cardio Kickboxing. As the founder of Team Destiny MMA, Jonathan Santa Maria has been a dedicated martial artist since 1998. In high school, Jonathan proved to be a hard working and dedicated wrestler. His natural talent and desire to improve his skills lead him to be a shining star.

Jonathan began his formal training in boxing under the instruction of well known boxing coach, Danny Zamora. Jonathan’s love of train…ing and learning the many different arts of fighting lead him to study Taekwondo with International Grand Master Hyan Y Kim; Submission Wrestling under the instruction of Rene Lopez; and Muay Thai where he eventually acheived Kru status under Steve Rodarte.

Jonathan hoped to become a successful MMA fighter but an unfortunate accident in 2007 nearly took his life. Jonathan was hit by a semi truck while driving home from work on his motorcycle. After many surgeries and months of therapy, Jonathan was told that he would was fortunate enough to keep his leg but he would never be able to fight again. This devastating blow could have crushed anyone’s dreams but Jonathan fought on.

In 2008 Jonathan decided to dedicate his life to training others who had the heart of a fighter. He has lead his fight team to many successful MMA fights with multiple gold medals in submission wrestling tournaments such as the Abu Dhabi tournament.

I don’t know how can a kid become a Muay Thai Kru without having any real Muay Thai fights. I have friends in Thailand with over Pro Muay Thai fights and they are not even Kru yet. He must of paid for that title. I fought in at least 20 Muay Thai fights in the US and I tell people all the time it doesn’t give me the right to be called Kru. I wouldn’t train here, not for me if you want to train serious and become a Pro MMA fighters. The head trainer is a whitebelt in BJJ and has had no real MMA training, just Karate out of a washed up dojo.

  • Enter The Dark Side says:

The head trainer is still a kid at 22 years old and is teaching techniques out of a book. I wouldn’t go there. He does a good job hiding it by con them. He puts them through a communist stlye training and making his students feel like they owe him something. I trained there 2 days and figured him out, he wasn’t straight with me. He has no real credintals. He paid for a Muay Thai Kru Certificate, he is a fake. I know a friend of mine who fought in Thailand with over 70 fights and won 3 titles out there. He was just named Kru by the Camp’s monk in Thailand which doesn’t cost money but blood, sweat, and tears. Do yourself a favor and look for another gym, your not going to learn much.
