AKA has been an established MMA academy for over 20 years. We currently also manage over 35 professional MMA fighters including UFC fighters John Fitch, Mike Swick, Josh Koscheck, Cain Velasquez, Christian Whellish, Paul Buentello and Strikeforce World Champion Josh Thomson. These are just a few of the fighters that train at our academy.
AKA Sunnyvale is the second of our three locations (San Jose and Fresno, California) teaching MMA, the fastest growing sport in the world, and we are a leader in our field. Alex Khanbabian is the Instructor of kickboxing/boxing and children classes; Alex’s bio includes 1990 Golden Gloves boxing Champion, 1991 ABF Boxing Finalist, 1995 USA kickboxing Champion,1998 Intercontinental Kickboxing Champion, 2000 ISKA Featherweight World Kickboxing Champion,2004 Pan American Jiujitsu Champion, Veteran of Shooto and WEC MMA organizations.
Bobby Southworth is AKA Sunnyvale’s Instructor of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and Jiu-Jitsu Classes; Bobby’s bio includes being the current Strikeforce Light Heavyweight World Champion and is a veteran of the UFC and black belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu.
