The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) classes are taught by John Calvano and the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) classes are taught by James Cooper. Both instructors are avid competitors in BJJ and MMA. Signing up with one club gives you access to all Pitbull clubs across San Diego and beyond. You will have the ability to train 7 days per week and 365 days per year.
Pitbull Clube De Jitsu has a great reputation in town, especially for high percentage of students who compete regularly. You do not have to compete if you join, that is completely up to you. You may always give it a try if you feel willing. Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructors have either repeatedly placed or won every major federation tournament: Pan American Gi and No Gi, World Championships, Grapplers Quest, American Nationals, Brazilian Nationals, New York International Open etc. You can be sure that you are learning from the best in their field.
Johann Calvaho is the head instructor for Clube De Jiu Jitsu Pitbull, Escondido. From Rio De Janeiro in Brazil, John started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since the age of 11 years old. Calvaho has been competing every year since he began the sport. He has over 24 years of experience. He has won and continues to win major federation tournaments such as the Pan American and American Nationals.
Calvaho enjoys surfing all across San Diego County. He is an avid skateboarder as well. Feel free to ask him for private lessons which can be whatever time of day you prefer. He is also very accomodating when it comes to working around your schedule. The academy schedule can be adusted to suit your needs.
