Loading...Harbor Kickboxing is a mixed martial arts academy in San Pedro, California, with an open minded approach to several fighting disciplines. The instructors at HK reflect this statement with their wide assortment of martial arts expertise. Many of the instructors at Harbor Kickboxing have trained at the original Filipino Kali Academy of America,which was the first school opened by two of Bruce Lee’s students, Guru Dan Inosanto and Sifu Richard Bustillo. Some have trained at their separate schools the Inosanto Academy and the IMB Academy.
Sifu Brad Olsen was born and raised in San Pedro. He attended San Pedro High School and graduated in 1973. He then joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Fulda, Germany as a tank gunner. His martial arts training formally started at the Filipino Kali Academy of America under the instruction of Sifu Dan Inosanto and Sifu Richard Bustillo, who were both students of the late martial arts legend, Bruce Lee.
Because of the high quality of fighters from so many backgrounds that were attracted to the IMB academy Sifu Brad had the opportunity to train and spar with many talented fighters and instructors over the years. Sifu Brad Olsen is proud to be one of them. Sifu Olsen trained and taught at the IMB academy in Torrance. for many years before being promoted to Full instructor under Sifu Bustillo. His training included extensive research and training in the arts of Western Boxing, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, Kali, Jeet Kune Do,Tae Kwan Do,and Lima Lama.
Sifu Olsen has trained at many gyms and Dojos over the years. In 1998 Sifu Olsen was appointed by Grandmaster Richard Bustillo to work with the L.A.P.D. in a gang prevention program called Jeopardy. He was assigned to conduct an after school martial arts program at Gompers middle school located in Central Los Angeles. It was a highly successful and respected program where he worked with hundreds of at risk youth over a five year period. He was inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2003 for his work with the Jeopardy program. He is currently a licensed fight manager and trainer with the California State Athletic Commission and has cornered several professional Boxing and MMA events. His fighters compete at amateur and professional levels.
