Loading...Iron Pit Fight Team is a non-proft fight team established in 1993 and sponsored by the Iron Horse Gym in Susanvillle, California, where we train. We have fighters from Oroville as well as Reno. All of the fighters give back to the community by helping Senior Citizens, disabled and anyone that may need assistance. We sponsor at high risk teens and adult men, and usually recruit wrestlers for the Iron Pit due to the strong grappling and ground skills. We currently have three National Champions: Matt Bautista, Vaymond Dennis and Aliaksei Fliaha.
Owner and partner Rudy Valentine has an extensive background in wrestling and boxing. Rudy was a Nevada State runner up and State Champion 1976 and 1977. In 1984, Rudy was inducted into the Wooster High Hall of Fame for wrestling, and in 1998 inducted to the Hall of Fame for Coaching at Liberty High School in Brentwood. After opening the first Iron Horse Gym in Susanville, he coached at Lassen High School from 1993-2004; he also received his brown belt in Judo in 1998. He has studied and practiced Muy Thai kickboxing and submission for over 15 years.
The Iron Pit Fight Team has two talented guys on our coaching staff: Keith Stewart and Johnny Mancilla. Keith has a wrestling background and has fought since 1993; competed against John Marsh and Tim Ligett and numerous “unsanctioned bouts”. Johnny Mancilla is our boxing coach; he had his own non-profit boxing club for the youth in Lassen County for many years.
