For years, Martial Arts have been represented by schools teaching a set curriculum that remains static. We are here to shatter that mold!
We believe that fighting techniques are constantly evolving and if your curriculum does not change, you will be fooled into believing you can defend yourself on the streets or in the cage. By combining Wrestling, Kickboxing, and Jiu Jitsu into one comprehensive skill-set, we have adapted our curriculum as the MMA world continues to push the envelope. Where most schools fear change, we embrace it.
Showing athletic promise from a young age, Head Instructor Mike “Joker” Guymon excelled at sports from the very beginning, continuing to propel himself up the ranks through high school sports and eventually inches away from a professional baseball career. However, before his baseball dreams became reality, Mike found a new passion: Mixed Martial Arts, and has been involved in Martial Arts for over 15 years. In his early days, Mike focused on Muay Thai Kickboxing and developed a devastating stand up game. Soon realizing that to truly become a top fighter you have to have an all around game, he became obsessed with Jiu Jitsu and Wrestling.
Joker started fighting professionally in the year 2000. He exhibited an amazing understanding of the MMA fight game and was not only fighting, but was in high demand by many other fighters to help them prepare for their fights and to work their corner. Joker started pulling double duty as a fighter and a trainer. He has had the good fortune to train with some of the best and brightest in the sport, including Randy Couture, BJ Penn, Babalu Sobral, Mark Munoz, Mike Whitehead, and more.
His interactions with these elite fighters has given him the knowledge and skill necessary to compete at a top professional level. He is currently the reigning King of the Cage Welterweight champion and is very proud of his belt. However, his true passion is teaching and coaching. Like any great coach, Joker has a chess master’s ability to see things before they happen and think many moves ahead. He has an incredible ability to transfer his knowledge to his students and help to improve their game as the sport continues to evolve.
The goal at Joker’s MMA is to give our students the best education, the ability to constantly push themselves, and the tools they need to excel in today’s demanding world of MMA. Through hard work, discipline and the proper education our students gain the confidence they need to succeed in the cage and beyond. This is a very shady school if you want to call it that. They have you sign up with a very shady billing company who steals from you. Avoid this place at all costs.
