Kenneth Pitts’ Martial Arts Academy in Oakland, California, offers instruction in Tae Kwon Do, Capoeira, Judo, Escrima, Kajukenbo, Self-Defense and Kickboxing. Rather than teaching just one martial art form, we believe our students benefit from a well-rounded curriculum that includes offensive and defensive forms, some with weapons, some without. Some of our students study just a single martial art form, while others study several forms. Our wide range of classes allows us to customize a training program for each individual.

Master instructor and owner Kenneth A. Pitts has been teaching martial arts for more than 25 years. Master Pitts holds a 6th Degree black belt in Taekwondo, a 2nd Dan in Judo, and is a Contra Mestre in Capoeira. Master Pitts also teaches Escrima, Tai Chi and Kickboxing. He earned a B.A. in Radio & Television and worked as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Alameda County for over 15 years. He has worked extensively with physically and mentally challenged teens and adults.

Taekwondo Instructor John F. Walker has studied martial arts with Master Pitts for over six years and has a Black Belt 1st Dan in Taekwondo. He has also studied Yoga and Judo.

Professor James Hundon is a 7th Degree Black Belt in Kyohuejitsumae Jujitsu and Small Circle Jujitsu, and has been teaching for over 30 years in New York and the San Francisco Bay Area. Professor Hundon is the founder of the Universal Institute of Self Defense.
