Loading...Lima Taekwondo Academy was the first martial arts center in the Culver City, California, area to offer BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU (BJJ) thirteen years ago. Today the program is extremely successful and the responsible for its success is Master JOHN MACHADO, a 5th degree black belt with 30 years of experience in this Brazilian art. JOHN MACHADO and his 4 brothers (JEAN JACQUES, RIGAN, CARLOS and ROGER) are pioneers of this art in the US, they had been teaching in California and Texas since 1989.
Lima Taekwondo Academy offers Jiu Jitsu, Taekwondo, and Sparring. Our classes are safe and structured in a way that beginners concentrate more on the basics techniques of self-defense harder than sparring; the atmosphere is friendly and stimulating. Master JOHN MACHADO teaches almost all the classes and is assisted by eight black belts and 10 brown belts, some of them are US National Champions.
The program is conducted with high professional standards and attracts a high number of students, from the average person wanting to get in shape while learning self defense to high level professional Mixed Martial Arts fighters.
We are a 3,500 square foot facility owned and operated by the Lima family, including Master Andre Lima, 6th degree black belt, with 30 years experience, and his wife, Master Christianny Lima, 5th degree black belt, with 20 years experience and Aycka Lima, 2nd degree junior black belt. The Limas have studied, worked, and competed both here in the US and internationally, having completed most of their initial training in their native country of Brazil. They are assisted by a very professional staff of instructors, including several National Champions.
The Academy is proud to be an official member of: The California Tae kwon do Association (CTA), The USA Tae kwon do (USA-TKD), and the World Tae kwon do Federation (WTF).
