As the second location of our main facility in Brentwood, our main goals are the same: To provide you with best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training we possibly can. We strive to create a family environment where every member of your family can train. San Pablo Instructor Kyle “Pavão” Cometta, who grew up here in the East Bay, began his jiu-jitsu training in January 2004 at the age of 16. Through dedicated training, he quickly progressed through the sport and because he demonstrated excellent leadership skills, began to help Head Instructor Ricardo Barros teach the kids classes at Ralph Gracie Jiu-Jitsu when he was a blue belt. When Ricardo took time off to focus on his mixed martial arts training, Kyle took over teaching all classes at Ralph Gracie Academy. When Ricardo opened his own academy in 2007, Kyle became one of the head instructors for the Kid’s Program.
As a competitor, Kyle is always training for the next tournament. He is always looking for ways to improve his technique and skills. In October 2006, Kyle competed at the U.S. Open Tournament and after defeating all of his opponents; he was awarded his purple belt from Ricardo. He was awarded his brown belt from Ricardo in March 2008. Two weeks after receiving his brown belt, Kyle competed in the 1st American Cup Tournament and again defeated all of his opponents for gold. Shortly after, he competed in the World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournament, and although he didn’t win, he submitted his first two opponents and lost his third match by one point. Kyle continues to compete regularly and is sponsored by Natural Life Foods of Pleasant Hill and Orinda.
