SouthBay Jiu Jitsu Club is Chula Vista’s Premier Grappling School. We are not a competition school; we do not train for competitions, or cage fighting. But what we do is cater to military and law enforcement needs and survival. However, if you are the next greatest thing to hit the UFC, we do have associate schools within our organization, which would be happy to train and manage you!

Our classes begin with a light warm-up and some dynamic stretching. Techniques and positions are taught along with some progressive drilling. The classes end with students sparring or “rolling” to test out their skills against a resisting opponent. Attire Classes are taught in both gi (traditional kimono and belt) and no- gi (shorts/pants and t-shirt).

SBJJC was founded in April 2006. Head Instructor Richard North received his purple belt from Mr. Roy Harris in December 2005. At SBJJC, we teach sport Jiu Jitsu, street self-defense and basic self-defense with knives, guns and sticks. At SBJJC, we honor our troops and law enforcement. If you are an active duty, or retired member of our military, ask about our discounts. We also offer law enforcement discounts to currently working, or honorably retired law enforcement officers.
