I would not recommend Tribull mixed martial arts to anyone who is really serious about MMA. This place is unprofessional and money hungry. The only thing the instructor who claims to be a black belt in jiu-jitsu can show you is how to get your butt kicked. If you don’t believe me, checkout his fight on Youtube, “Christian the creature smith vs machine gun”. What a joke, and he supposably holds a procard. I would recommend Cung Le, AKA, or Shamrock.

  • In the interest of full disclosure, I am instructor at Tribull. I am writing this review at the advice of the editor of this site only to refute the statement the review by “jessica” that the head instructor (Sifu Christian Smith) has falsely claimed to be any rank in any art.

Her review appears to be more of a personal attack on Christian Smith, rather than a relevant review of the gym, its classes, prices or instruction.

Please check out more than just one video of our fighters but linking to our YouTube account from Tribull.com, or better yet, come in for your one free week of training and classes at Tribull. No commitment, no sales pitch, just one free week of unlimited training to see if Tribull is right for you.

Too bad “jessica” did not put her full name so that she could stand behind what she says.

Although I don’t necessarily like Yelp’s “review filter,” I can see how it might be necessary since anyone can write anything about a gym without having to support their claims or back up what they say.

If there is anything in life I can not stand if a Big Fat Liar. I have been attending Tribull MMA for the last 5 years, and the only thing I can say I about Tribull is that they know how to train. When I first started Tribull I was afraid of getting a pounding, now I can honestly say that not only do I have a 4 – 0 amatuer MMA record and a 1st and 2nd placing in JuiJitsu tournaments but have always encouraged and worked with anyone with financial difficulties. Tribull cares abut they care about their people and what they stand for. I had visited other schools prior to Tribull only to be given the cold shoulder because I did not fight. Now I walk proud respresenting Tribull anywhere I go. This included UFC 117 where I was stopped by several fans who happened to watch Tribull on Fightquest on the Discovery channel and had recognized me from events where Tribull had participated.

I have been going to Tribull for over a year now. It is like my second family! When I was going through tuff times Tribull was there, they made it easy for me to make payments. I have met some of the coolest people there. If you, “Jessica” have some kind of beef with my Sifu, who happens to be the best instructor I know, your barking up the wrong tree. No one disses Tribull and gets away with it.

I have to weigh in on this, I have found the instruction that I receive at Tribull MMA to be excellent. Chistian Smith is a well rounded martial artist, who is an even better instructor. He is able to clearly explain new techniques and recognise improper form and correct it before it becomes habit. I also have my son in the Jr Kaju class and I have found this school to be an excellent place for my son to improve self confidence, in just a short time I have seen him come out of his shell and begin to interact and thrive in a group environment. I would highly recommend this school to anybody at any level of Martial Arts.

Chris’ passion and respect for the martial arts and the sport of MMA has fueled and driven him to teach what and all he knows to his students at Tribull. He’s produced PanAm Champions, Pro Fighters, Amateur Fighters, Pankration and No Gi grappling contestants, not to mention numerous blackbelts in Kajukenbo (He, himself is a 4th degree balckbelt in Kajukenbo – hence the title). I’ve been training at Tribull for the past 3-4 years now and have been under the instruction of Sifu Christian Smith since I was 12 years old and am currently a 1st degree blackbelt & amateur fighter.

There is no Hustle and Flow going on at Tribull – we simply train strong to remain strong and are grateful for the chances we are given. We all love what we do and our dedication is en large due to the instructors and coaching staff that Tribull provides.

I will not sit back and bad mouth or judge another school. I have nothing bad to say about any other gyms and honestly have a little more class than to take any personal grievances out into the world via the “internet” (behind a hidden profile and alias, no less) but if you just don’t want to be another face in the crowd and are ready to get down and dirty then check us out. We’re fighters, yeah – but we’re also Ohana (family). That means win, lose or draw we have each others backs.
