High Altitude houses training for world champions in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighting, Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and Wrestling, although the majority of its members are beginners. High Altitude classes teach the most effective techniques in a safe and fun environment. Students of all ages are welcome at High Altitude, from 5 to 105 years old. Nate “The Great” Marquardt, our head instructor, started training when he was 15 years old in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, and Kenpo under Alistair Mcniven. He also started training Freestyle Wrestling at the age of 18 and training BJJ under Ricardo Murgel. Nate has also trained Kickboxing with the likes of Duane “Bang” Ludwig and Christian Allen. Nate won Bas Rutten invitational IV tournament in 1999 and in the same year he had his first fight overseas in Pancrase, but along with that experience came his first loss. Shortly after, Nate entered the 8 man tournament to crown the first middleweight champion (King of Pancrase) and won the first fight. Nate stayed training in Japan for 4 months and fought the second and third fights of the tournament and won. He continued training and fighting in Japan and spent total of 1 year training there. Nate has trained under Shane Pitts for three years and received a 2nd degree black belt in Japanese Ju-Jitsu. Over the course of his career in Pancrase he won the title 7 times. Nate spent time training at the Olympic Training Center practicing Freestyle Wrestling and in early 2005 received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Master Ricardo Murgel. Nate also then started training with his current trainers, Trevor Wittman (boxing) and Greg Jackson (M.M.A.). Nate believes they are the highest level trainers one can have. Nate has been a member of team Jackson since 2004. Nate believes he has the best training partners in the world!
