Instructor Alex Silva Ruas started his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training at the age of five in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Under the tutelage of Master Casquinha, Alex became a fourth-degree black belt.
Throughout his jiu jitsu career, Alex has trained with Carlson Gracie, Eugenio Tadeu, Hugo Duarte, Paulo Filho, Mario Sukata, Carlao Barreto, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Murilo Bustamante, and Ricardo Arona. Alex spent time working with the Lion’s Den, cornering such fighters as Frank Shamrock and Pete Williams. Alex also had the opportunity to train at Favela “Morro Do pavao e pavaozinho na academia”, the famed Brazilian boxing academy with Master Paulo Coelho and Thai-boxing coach Vander Valverde.
