Mauricio Villardo received his black belt in 1997 from Royler Gracie, one of the most skillful and adept members of the Gracie clan and one of the most sought after instructors in the martial arts world. Mauricio began training in Rio de Janeiro at the age of fifteen and before long the pattern of the Gracie style of fighting was imprinted: take the fight quickly to the ground, gain control, and finish the opponent. The ease with which Mauricio incorporates this strategy against opponents of all sizes, weights and styles, won him the World Championship in 1996. As part of the famous Gracie Competition Team, he also won two state championships, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship and took second place in the Pan American Games.

This is old school Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Maricio received his black belt from Royler Gracie one of the most famous instructors in the Gracie clan. The classes are small. Instruction is from top quality instructors under former world champion and current Pan American champion Mauricio Villardo. So the moves and positions are up to date – and they work in real conditions. This is verified by the number of State, National and International medals that are won by students each year.
The atmosphere is friendly. Beginners are welcomed and smoothly integrated into the class. It is totally not intimidating. Age range runs from late teens to middle age.
This is a great work out and a rewarding sport.
