Loading...Since 1999, Sera’s Kajukenbo has been providing instruction in the martial arts in the Kahului, Hawaii area. Our school believes our programs will enrich Maui through its unique way of building positive citizens with discipline, self-esteem, confidence, and ethics. The positive changes in students are tremendous and are priceless to both the student as well as the people in their lives. At Sera’s, learn the Original Mixed Martial Art system known as Kajukenbo. This system combines techniques from Korean Karate, Judo/Jujitsu, Chinese Kenpo, and Chinese Boxing. Submission Grappling class and Womens’ Self-Defense also available.
Kajukenbo Classes:
Kids Class – This structured class is for children ages 5 to 12. Students learn how to block, strike with both arms and legs and apply it to forms, self defense sets, and sparring. Students gain self-discipline, respect, and self-confidence through the training classes. Having the Black Belt Attitude and demonstrating Black Belt Excellence are character traits that are stressed to the students.
Teens/Adults Class – This structured class is for teens and adults ages 13 and up. Students learn how to block, strike with both arms and legs, and grapple. Students apply the techniques to forms, self defense sets against punch attacks, grab attacks, and weapons attacks, and MMA sparring.
Submission Grappling Class – This class is for teens and adults and focuses on grappling techniques both standing and on the ground. Techniques will be taught from the arts of Brazilian Jiujitsu, Judo, Sambo, and Greco Roman and Freestyle Wrestling.
Women’s Self Defense Course – This 16-hour course is offered twice a year and is open to teen girls and women of all ages. Students will learn how to block, strike with both arms and legs, and grapple and apply these techniques in common self-defense situations experienced by women. Students will gain a good awareness and self confidence in their ability to defend themselves and is a good introduction into continuing in the training of martial arts.
Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the martial arts and have attained a certain level of expertise to qualify them as teachers and also mentors. Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students. Sigung Trent Sera (6th degree Black Belt) is the Head Instructor/Owner of the school and teaches all of the classes.
