Ohana Martial Arts, of which Ohana means “family” in Hawaiian, was opened in 2003 with the goal of building an academy that focuses on the pure art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We sought to create an atmosphere that simulated the welcoming island vibe of Hawaii. Moving away from a competition-focused atmosphere, we wanted to bring a fun and relaxed approach to the training. Today, our classes are comprised of students and working professionals who wish to train free of an intimidating “Fight Club” environment.

Whether you are new to the art or an experienced grappler, Ohana offers a warm and inviting environment where beginners are always welcome, and the mood is always laid back. We invite you to visit our academy today and see for yourself. We offer instruction in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai Kickboxing.

Head Instructor Chris Lund began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1993 and is among the first wave of Americans to study the art. He began his formal training with the legendary Gracie family at the “Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy of Honolulu” under the direct teaching of Relson Gracie. Following 16 years of dedicated training, Chris was awarded his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt in 2009 by Charuto Verissimo. Ohana Martial Arts is Officially Affiliated with Charuto Verissimo-Nova Uniao Hawaii.
