Miletich Fighting Systems (MFS) is a multifaceted mixed martial arts system that combines aspects of several different martial arts (Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, western wrestling, judo, boxing, and Sambo) to create one complete fighting system. MFS was founded in 1997 by former UFC Lightweight/Welterweight Champion Pat Miletich. Many accomplished athletes in the mixed martial arts world have trained under this system, and it is considered by many to be one of the best styles of training available.
Instruction at MFS of Atlantic City is handled by father and son, Cardo and Dominic Urso. This father-son team has decades of fighting experience between them. Cardo is a retired Marine Master Gunnery Sergeant with 24 years of service. From 1997 to 1999 he was the Chief trainer of instructors for the Marine Corps Close Combat Program, and then from 1999 until 2002 he went on to become the Chief trainer of instructors for the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP). These impressive credentials are only the beginning. He has over 35 years of martial arts training, and currently holds Black Belts in Okinawa Karate, White Crane, Judo, Jujitsu and Sambo, and is also a level 3 instructor in the Miletich Fighting Systems. He has also coached and competed at many levels including high school, college, and the Marine Corps allowing him to have a full understanding of competitive fighting both in and out of the ring.
Dominic Urso has an impressive resume of his own. He has been training in the martial arts since he was 4 years old. He is currently a senior in Egg Harbor Township high school where he is a wrestler. He has been teaching martial arts to children and adults since 1999. He is also a level 1 Miletich Fighting Systems instructor.
