Loading...Overstreet Taekwondo Academy, located in Alamogordo, New Mexico, offers TaeKwonDo classes for Tiger Cubs (ages 4 and 5), Juniors (ages 6 to 12), and Adults. TaeKwonDo is our main focus; however, our Academy offers training in other martial arts, including Gracie-style Jiu-Jitsu, HanMuDo, and Weapons (sword and short stick). Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, which is also known at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, is a style of fighting that has become popular in the US because of mixed martial arts competitions. It combines ground fighting with grappling moves such as choke holds and joint locks to overpower a presumably larger and stronger opponent. Like our TaeKwonDo classes, our students get the benefit of the techniques without unnecessary pain or risk of injury. Our Jiu-Jitsu instructors have the benefit of the ITA’s instructor training as well as the Jiu-Jitsu training under the direction of Larry Shealey and Charles Dos Anjos.
Head Instructor David Overstreet is an Alamogordo native who is proud to bring the International TaeKwonDo Alliance (“ITA”) to his hometown. He is a Senior Fifth Degree black belt in TaeKwonDo. TaeKwonDo is a Korean martial art known for its powerful kicks and punches as well as its aerial kicks. He is also a Level 5 instructor, the highest designation offered by the ITA. He is dedicated to continued development as a martial artist and as an instructor under the guidance of his instructor, Senior Master James C. Bailey.
Our Academy is a 5,000 square foot facility dedicated to our students and their familes. We have all of the modern training equipment required for safe and effective training. We have two training areas allowing for private lessons as well as break out sessions during regular classes. Both areas have protective mats and ample seating for family and friends to watch the classes.
