BEDROC is a Chartered Club with the United States Judo Association, USA Judo and is a WBJJA Affiliate School under BJJ Black Belt Master Paulo Wesley Lopes and Professor Thadeu Vieira.
Our staff and members include a number of students who have competed Locally, Nationally, as well as Internationally with outstanding results. John Farrar Sr. has made BEDROC a place where students of all ages and diverse backgrounds can learn an Olympic Sport & Self Defense, discipline, and a strong work ethic through our competitive Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and MMA programs. We teach our youth respect through hard work and discipline.
Staff and students of BEDROC Martial Arts have the distinct pleasure and advantage of having a direct link to authentic Brazilian Jiujitsu Masters in and from the birth place of BJJ, Brazil. Sensei John Farrar oversees the day to day Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Judo and Submission Grappling instruction at BEDROC. Sensei John is a certified Brazilian Jiujitsu Instructor and has over 35 years “in the Game”. John is a successful Competitor as well as an accomplished and charismatic teacher. Sensei John’s instructor and friend is Professor Thadeu Vieira who is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil now living and heading up several ground-breaking and successful academies in the Sarasota, Florida area. Professor Thadeu’s long-time instructor is world and international champion Master Paulo Wesley Lopes, who is also the head of several “Pagels” Jiu-Jitsu teams in Rio. Master Paulo was awarded his Black Belt from 9th Degree Red Belt Grand Master Francisco Mansur, head of Kioto BJJ. Grand Master Mansur is the founder and owner of “Academia Kioto de Jiu-Jitsu,” one of the most traditional and successful Jiu-Jitsu schools in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is very proud to be one of only six men outside of the Gracie family to be granted a professor’s diploma directly from none other than 10th Degree Red Belt, Grand Master Helio Gracie.
