The school was established in 1994 by pioneer American Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Black Belts and world class instructors Steve Kardian and Tony Gioffre.
Thornwood prides itself in offering personalized service and instruction for students of all levels of experience. Students receive a proven training program that includes the best Brazilian/Gracie jiu-jitsu, Kickboxing/Muay Thai, Fitness, and Mixed Martial Arts instruction available. Our MMA program also includes MMA Legend Erick Paulson’s Combat Submission Wrestling, Judo, Kettlebells, TRX, Olympic Training Rings, Yoga and Cardio Kickboxing. Classes are taught by World Class instructors certified in the area that they teach and that were handpicked for their excellence, professionalism and dedication to the art of teaching Martial Arts.
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing/Muay Thai, and Mixed Martial Arts programs transforms a student into a disciplined and well-rounded individual. Students will improve physical shape and stamina with the confidence to defend themselves in real-world situations.
We also have a huge Kid’s Program led by CNN, NBC and Fox News Safety and Self Defense Expert, Steve Kardian. We teach our kids how to deal with Bullying using non-violent techniques. In addition, we train students in a mixture of the most effective martial arts through exciting games and lessons! The program is great for overweight kids looking to get fit. We specialize in dealing with problem children or kids with learning disabilities.
Thornwood has multiple affiliate MMA/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Centers throughout New York and the United States. The Thornwood Headquarters is located in Pleasantville, New York (Westchester County). Our other locations include Wappinggers Falls, Albany, and Rockland County.
Our Pleasantville, New York facility will include the new Zebra mats—voted the best mats in the world—used on professional competition and elite training centers. The mats are professionally cleaned daily with hospital disinfectant.
