Loading...Vertex Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on Long Island in Riverhead, New York, offers instruction in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for both adults and kids, and Mixed Martial Arts as well. Instructor Gregg DePasquale started his grappling career in 1993 wrestling under 1960 Olympian and Pan American Wrestling gold medalist Louis Giani.
As a member of the Huntington High School wrestling team, Gregg was one of the best. With a work ethic second to none and a well-earned reputation for perfecting his moves through hours of hard drilling, Gregg became one of the top wrestlers in his weight class, winning the league championship and finishing a finalist in the Section XI Suffolk County tournament where his only loss was to one of New York’s all-time greatest wrestlers.
During his years with the Blue Devils, Gregg developed nearly unstoppable double leg and snatch single takedowns and a brutal half-nelson series that physically and mentally wore opponents out. His levels of conditioning and strength put him among the elite in both the county and state and as a senior he helped Huntington win the Suffolk team championship.
After high school Gregg started his submission grappling career, training with very high level wrestlers and well known MMA fighters. Competing in, and winning multiple Grapplers Quest, NAGA, and other submission grappling tournaments, Gregg turned his attention to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Training with Renzo Gracie Black belt and world renowned Jiu Jitsu stylist Joe D’Arce, Gregg is currently a three stripe brown belt. Gregg continues to train on a daily basis but his true passion is training others and passing along his knowledge to his students.
Vertex Brazilian Jiu Jitsu currently meets at Ultimate Fitness East, located on County Road 58 just east of the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead. Ultimate Fitness East offers the most comprehensive and state-of-the-art exercise facility in the area. In addition to the extensive cardiovascular equipment available to our members, each piece of equipment offers a multimedia experience, which includes a wide selection of commercial-free music and DirecTV Satellite television channels.
