The academy is located just outside Cleveland in the city of Beachwood. The Ricardo Pires Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy was developed to teach and promote the genuine art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Ricardo Pires is a multiple-time Pan-American champion, Brazilian champion, Rio de Janeiro State champion and Abu Dhabi (ADCC) trials runner-up. Professor Ricardo has achieved success not only as a competitor but also as a coach having trained well-known UFC fighters such as Frank Mir, Heath Hearing and Phil Baroni among others. Ricardo has trained and taught at famous academies in the United States and Brazil. Having founded the famed Las Vegas Combat Club, he has also trained at American Top Team in Florida and Gracie Barra Headquarters in Rio de Janiero.
