If I had means of transportation i would not be emailing you right now lol. I would like to know any information you can send me about the gym.

    Hi Julian

Since we are not Battleground, we cannot speak for them; please contact them directly, as all of their information has been provided for you here!

I went to this gym and tried it out for a week and none of the instructors have any skill whatsoever.. Not a good choice.. Nice place though…

  • Rob D says:

Brian I’m not sure what classes you took, but you couldn’t be farther from the truth. The MMA and Muay Thai classes are both taught by black belts and the boxing classes are run by a 4-time World Champion boxer.

  • Brian Ferrall says:

Rob, that is the problem.. You have a black belt in Tea KwonDo or however you spell it teachnig Muay Thai. In case you didn’t know, there is no such thing as a black belt in Muay Thai unless that’s something that they made up. The BJJ isn’t taught by a black belt in BJJ maybe something else but not BJJ, maybe he’s a black belt in teakwondo too?? The Boxing trainer is a girl and yeah she was ok for a local girl and kinda cute too.. But no, other than her nobody really had any skill there at all and they always get the asses handed to them when the go compete in mma in any local events in Mass. Yes Rob I tried all the classes and wasnt’ impressed at all. NO SKILL AT BATTLEGROUND!! Like I said nice place though.

i want to know what are the best mma gyms in rhode island, i want a good overall gym can someone help????

  • droc says:

    Michael

Give BTG a try, or search our other gyms in RI or even Massachusetts. Doesn’t hurt to try. The best overall gym is the one that suits your needs the best.

  • mike says:

    Brian is full of ****

The BJJ is taught by a black belt that at his peak was ranked 3rd in naga

The Muay Thai is taught by a 4th Dan level instructor

Boxing features a 4 time world champion. Thats right WORLD champion.

And Chris is obviously pretty qualified because he teaches grappling/street defense to different police districts

I’m willing to bet Brian is affiliated with one of those shotty gyms where one instructor teaches everything…

  • Derick says:

Yeh, I’m not sure what Brian is talking about. Especially the Muay Thai. The guy who runs the MT is probably THE ONLY LEGIT instructor in the state. Not only is he a full instructor under arjan Steve Wilson in Muay Thai (head of all Thai martial arts in the USA, by way of Thai government) but also is an instructor in Krabi Krabong and Mauy Boran (the martial arts that created Muay Thai) Some schools have better grappling programs. Burrell and Santos are probably the best ground fighting schools. Battleground is good for grappling but probably the one of the best for striking and by far the best in Muay Thai instruction. Every other Muay Thai instructor in RI is just modified american kick boxing.

  • Walter S. says:

I don’t know what Brian is talking about either. The Muay Thai instructor is a 4th Dan in Arnis De mano, not Muay Thai. He teaches Filipino and Thai arts. Read Kru William’s Mongrel website, he’s stated all along that there are no ranks in Muay Thai. I’ve been involved in martial arts for a long time and they absolutely know their stuff there.
