Gracie Barra South Lamar is one of three schools comprising Gracie Barra Austin in the Austin, Texas area. We offer world-class level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction for individuals, families, and Law Enforcement Officials of Travis County and s being developed to become a reference for physical education, character development, self-defense, and world class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, BJJ, training at the communities of South Austin, North Austin and Cedar Park.

The Gracie Barra Austin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are aligned with the Gracie Barra Program Structure developed by Master Carlos Gracie Jr. to meet specific learning needs from people with different ages, gender and levels. Our South Austin, North Austin and Cedar Park BJJ locations offer a clean, friendly and progress oriented environment allows the students to have a challenging, inspirational and warm learning and training experience that always make them feel like coming back.

Professor Marcelo De Souza began training in 1994 at the legendary Gracie Barra headquarters Rio de Janeiro, Brazil under the instruction of Master Carlos Gracie Jr. He has since been an accomplished competitor and world known instructor. Professor Marcelo began teaching in his home academy where he grew up and trained in Brazilian Jiujitsu. In 2006 Prof.De Souza received his Black Belt from the hands of the legendary Master Carlos Gracie Jr. In 2007, Prof. De Souza left Brazil to come to the United States to share his passion for teaching and unparalleled knowledge he acquired from great mentors such as Prof. Marcio Feitosa and Master Carlos Gracie Jr. himself. From 2007 to 2009, he was one of the original Assistant Professors at Gracie Barra America in California, the first Gracie Barra Academy in the United States and new home of Prof. Feitosa and Master Carlos Gracie Jr. Professor Marcelo has since gone across the United States helping Academies train new students in the skill, lifestyle and art of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
