STERLING — Sterling Metro Wrestling is sponsoring its first annual Mixed Martial Arts clinic this weekend. The camp will begin at 9 a.m. on July 25 at the Wally Post Gym at Sterling High School. The cost for students ages 8 to 17 is $25, Adults are $35. Concessions will be available al day. All proceeds from the event go to Sterling wrestling programs.

This is an all ages and abilities clinic. Classes in Tae-Kwon-Do and Jiu-Jitsu as well as other martial arts wil be offered. Most importantly, children’s and women’s self defense classes will also be offered.

The primary instructor will be Ron Waterman. Waterman is a veteran of the UFC, WWE, WEC and the Pride. He hold a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, spent nine years as a wrestling coach and 26 years as a wrestler. He is also a successful motivational speaker and entrepreneur.

Other instructors include Willie Zwirn Sr., founder of American MMA and a black belt in Okinawin-Te; Willis Zwirn Jr., a former U.S. Marine and black belt; Lodina Weingardt, a black belt in Jeet-kun-do; Sev Vasquez, a professional self-defense instructor; and Mike Laurita, founder of American Ground and Pound.
