Dave Camarillo can be credited with helping teach submission skills to many stars in mixed martial arts both past and present, including the likes of current Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold and former UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez.

Camarillo recently released “Submit Everyone,” a book that features seven chapters to becoming a better submission artist. Carmarillo helps guide the reader through the art of guerrilla jiu-jitsu along with Kevin Howell.

The book features 352 pages and was published this past January. It can be found to order on Amazon’s website.

Recently, Camarillo conducted an interview with FindMMAGym discussing his book, his future in MMA, and plans for another book down the road.

“I wanted to give people a book that was a tactical road map through the ranks and going from white to black belt,” Camarillo said. “When we started the book, me and Kevin did interview upon interview and we just went off. There’s a lot of good tape with us about the philosophy of finishing.”

Camarillo describes his art, saying, “Guerilla jiu-jitsu is military. I read Che Guevara’s biography and he was into being offensive and techniques and Kevin ran with that. It was a collaboration but he knows how to get inside my head and lay it out for someone to read.”

The book was ranked No. 1 on Amazon before it came out, and continues to hold the top spot in terms of martial arts books on the site. Camarillo says he wouldn’t mind working on another book down the road, adding, “When we do something, we put everything into it. I had no idea that the success of this book would be where it’s at. I’ve already had thoughts about a new book. My mind doesn’t stop.”

Currently Camarillo is busy with his own gym where the focus is on family-style martial arts rather than MMA as he was known for at American Kickboxing Academy. However, he still plans to work with some of his old students including UFC welterweights Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch.
