With UFC 149 in the books the fallout from the event was significant based on a number of beautifully brutal stoppages on the preliminary portion of the card, the equally disappointing delivery on PPV, and the crowning of a new interim champion.

Here are some of the biggest storylines to emerge from Saturday night’s show:

Renan Barao Fulfills Dream with Win Over Urijah Faber

After the night’s headlining bout seeing surging Brazilian Barao defeat Faber on the scorecards, the 25-year old interim champ called it the “happiest moment of his life” in a follow-up interview with the UFC. He also said he wants to fight linear title-holder Dominick Cruz who sees as the “best” but is open to facing anyone the UFC puts in front of him. The victory was Barao’s 29th straight.

Faber Sticking at Bantamweight

Despite a disappointing loss (and appearing undersized), “The California Kid” made it clear at the post-event press conference he has no interest in dropping down to flyweight, saying, “No way,” of the prospect. The defeat marked Faber’s fifth consecutive stumble in title-fights and dropped him to 5-5 in his previous ten tilts.

UFC President Dana White Displeased with Main Card Clashes

The UFC’s outspoken chief executive has never been afraid to speak his mind and Saturday’s presser was no different. White blasted the card, which he labeled as “disappointing”, while criticizing performances from the officiating crew and a few of the fighters. “Disgusting,” White said of the plodding heavyweight affair between Cheick Kongo-Shawn Jordan in addition to using the term to assess referee Yves Lavgine’s decision to let them clinch against the cage for a huge portion of the pairing. He also stated he hoped to see debuting middleweight Hector Lombard, who stands 5’9”, drop down to welterweight after losing a Split Decision to Tim Boetsch.
