Danny Ruiz, the owner and head instructor at Capitao Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, holds black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. He also holds a 2nd Black belt in Dantoryu JuJitsu. Danny believes that self-defense is Jiu-Jitsu’s primary function, however, competition can aid in an individuals technical developement in the martial art. He has competed in many tornaments such as Florida State, Pan Am’s, and N.A.G.A. He had the honor of competing against world champions like Jeff Monson and Daniel Moreas. Danny presently fights Mixed Martial Arts and is one of the top welterwieghts in the state of Florida. Always looking to improve his game and knowledge Danny has trained with some of the best in the business such as Ricardo De la Riva, Ross Kellin, Din Thomas, Thiago Dominges, and many many more. He believes that martial arts like life is a journey not a destination and we never stop learning. After recently separating from active military duty, Danny can now focus on his passion of teaching and competing full time.
I started training at Capitao mma about 3 months ago and its the best decision i have made pertaining to my mma career, where else can you go where you have 2 bjj blackbelts 4 judo blackbelts a national champion wrestling coach , former champion and golden gloves kickboxing and boxing coach and 40 great guys to train with everyday . Its a family feel and everyone pushes each other to be the best they can be .
