At Apex Jiu-Jitsu in Duluth, Minnesota, we are dedicated to the training and teaching of highly technical Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and we are proud to be part of the Pedro Sauer Gracie Jiu Jitsu Association. Our facility has over 1,100 square feet of training area which is covered by Zebra Mats-MMA mats and is cleaned daily for the health and safety of our students.

Our program began in 2005 under the guidance of 2nd degree Pedro Sauer black belt Greg Nelson, owner and head instructor of Minnesota Martial Arts Academy. With careful attention to the details of the techniques, we continue to pass along Professor Sauer’s technical style of Jiu Jitsu to our students and continue to advance and refine our technique with frequent seminars with Greg Nelson and black belt instructor Ishmael Bentley.

Our training environment is safe and controlled because it is based on respect for our training partners and flowing from one technique to the next without relying on brute strength to overcome bad form. We train without ego so pride will not block our progress. All rank advancement testing for Apex Jiu Jitsu is done by black belt instructors Greg Nelson, Ishmael Bentley, or Professor Sauer. Students can expect to work hard and train consistently to earn belt promotion in the Pedro Sauer Gracie Jiu Jitsu Association.
