Loading...Damaibushi Martial Arts LLC, located in Blue Springs, Missouri, provides instruction in the Traditional Martial Art of Okinawa Shorin Ryu Matsumura Kenpo Karate and Kobudo, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) as an Affiliate School of Miletich Fighting Systems, Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing.
Head Instructor Fred Ettish has been active in martial arts beginning in 1969 (For complete martial arts bio, please click…). After having become very disillusioned with the state of tournament or “point” fighting prevalent for so many years, Fred became interested in the then new phenomenon of Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA (Known as No Holds Barred, or NHB at the time). This was in late 1993 – early 1994. This new phenomenon appeared to be the ultimate test for a martial artist to test him/her self. After being soundly defeated as a last minute replacement in UFC 2, Fred began a much more aggressive look into the realities of MMA/NHB sport combat. He did this by re-examining what his base art, Matsumura Kenpo Karate, had to offer, and by also training with others who were well versed in different fighting arts and disciplines. He also tried to make sure that whenever he trained, and whatever discipline he was training in, he did so with intensity, realism, serious intent, and all – out dedication.
In his journey to ever improve himself, his training, and his teaching ability, Fred came to know Pat Miletich, founder of Miletich Fighting Systems (MFS). Fred soon found that not only was Pat a world champion and trainer of champions, but also possessed qualities such as humility, generosity, and an unbelievable work ethic. Due to Pat’s personal qualities and obvious accomplishments, over the years, Fred sought to train with Pat/MFS on several occasions in Iowa, and when Pat offered the opportunity to become a member of MFS as a Certified Instructor, Fred was quick to take advantage of this. After successfully completing a week – long, grueling certification program, Fred became a Blue Belt and Certified Level 2 Instructor in MFS.
Damaibushi Martial Arts is located at Summit II Fitness in Blue Springs, Missouri, east of Kansas City just off I-70.
